A typical Easter time scene in Cypress Gardens.

My wife Mary and I, first visited Cypress Gardens many years ago, before Hurricane Hugo came to visit the Charleston area. Hurricane Hugo dramatically changed Cypress Gardens because it knocked down virtually every hardwood tree in the park and left standing all of the Cypress Trees. The result, after several years of cleanup, is a beautiful open airy place that anyone would enjoy visiting.

Cypress Gardens is now a County Park although it was formally owned and operated by the city of Charleston, South Carolina. It's a little less than 30 miles from downtown Charleston near the little town of Goose Creek. It is one of the best keep secrets of the Charleston area.

Cypress Gardens is a park/nature preserve that is an absolute joy to visit during the azalea season which is usually around Easter.
