Polar Bear and her Cub on Hudson Bay

A Polar Bear mom
with her cub, on the arctic tundra in late fall.
She is waiting for the ice to form so she can resume
hunting for seals. This cub is about ten months old
and is known as a 'cub of the year', or COY for
short. We photographed this bear in the Canadian
Northwest Territories near Churchill Manitoba.
Churchill is on the western shore of Hudson Bay. |
