Cliff Palace in Mesa Verde National Park

from the Ray I. Doan Photographic Collection

Cliff Palace was populated by Ancestral Puebloans from the late 1190s to the late 1270s.  It contained more than 200 rooms and is located on the Chapin Mesa along with numerous other cliff dwellings.  Cliff Palace was the largest of the cliff dwelling and may have had as many as 150 people living there.
