Machu Picchu Peru the Lost City of the Incas

These magnificent ruins are high in the Andes Mountains in central Peru.  In their conquest of Peru the Spaniards never found Machu Picchu.  The city was abandoned by the Incas not long after the Spanish arrived.  Probably as a strategic retreat to a more remote location in the Andes Mountains.  There is speculation that Machu Picchu may just have been a summer getaway place for the Inca Emperor.
