Whitetail Deer Fawn's First Steps

In the Ray and Steven Doan Photographic Collection

This little Whitetail fawn, which was born the night before, finally got tied of our attentions and got up and wobbled off in search of mom.  Fawns are able to walk at birth and nibble on vegetation only a few days later.  White-tailed deer fawns are nursed for 8 to 10 weeks before they are weaned.
