I took this photograph on a bitterly cold and windy day. The Emperor Penguin chicks had grouped up in a creche to stay warm. Apparently the chicks, unlike the adults, had not yet learned to rotate around to the side away from the wind. Every once in a while all the adults would break up the creche and make the chicks reform a new creche. I'm guessing they were preventing some chicks from always being on the windward side.
