Banded Mongoose in Africa

In the Ray and Steven Doan Photographic Collection

Even though they weight at most 4 pounds, Banded Mongoose can intimidate much larger predators the size of Servals or Jackels.  They manage this through mutual aid and by staging mock mobbing attacks on the predator.  This guy is one of a family of Banded Mongoose that made their home in an old termite mound on the Masai Mara in Kenya Africa.
