Vervet the Savanna Monkey in Tanzania Africa

from the Ray I. Doan Photographic Collection

The Vervet Monkey is known as an African savanna monkey because it prefers to live in woodland along the edge of open grasslands.  The Vervets will forage in grasslands but they are dependent on trees for safety so they never venture very far into the savanna.  This Monkey was one of a troop  that made pests of themselves at our lodge in the Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania, Africa.
