Nudibranchs are a snail without a shell. Most nudibranchs are little things from a half inch to two inches long. This giant Nudibranch, which was about 18 inches long, is called a Spanish Dancer. The Spanish Dancer is special among nudibranchs, in that it can swim. When they are disturbed or threatened they swim off with a convulsing motion that gave rise to the name Spanish Dancer. They normally do their coral grazing after dark so you have to go night diving to find them. |
