Hippopotamus spend their days submerged or semi-submerged in ponds or slow moving rivers. Their heads are designed for a life in the water with their nose, eyes and ears located on the top of their head. They usually stay underwater five minutes or less but they can stay for as long as 15 minutes. They leave the water at night to feed. |
