This bird's name comes from its strange call that sounds a little like 'kittiwake'. Bird-banding has revealed that this bird is a great wanderer. Kittiwakes banded in North America have been found in Europe and vise-visa. I photographed this mother and chick nesting on an island in Alaska. |
